Position Summary:
IT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST Information Technology refers to anything connected to computing technology, such as networking, hardware, software, the Internet, or the people that work with these technologies. At Republic Media, our IT department oversees an absolutely critical function within our organization…the computers, the networks, and the other highly technical areas of our business. If you would like to be a part of a very innovative and dynamic group of individuals and work with the technologies used to create, store, exchange and use information in its various forms, we can provide that opportunity. The individual in this role will be responsible for performing high volume transfers of media files to output news products utilizing an intranet to transfer pages. Key responsibilities include: • Accurate and timely monitoring and reporting quality control problems. • Troubleshoot page flow, data center, all production application and production problems. • Administer and monitor equipment within our Data Centers. • Answer Help Desk phone calls and work with customers to resolve problems.
Requirements
If you have excellent communication and customer service skills we want to talk to you! Basic knowledge in the areas of client/server computing, desktop computer functionality (hardware, operating system, file structure), and Microsoft Office Suite products. Intermediate to expert level knowledge on desktop hardware/software configuration, LAN/WAN networking, UNIX and or Windows system administration, newspaper pagination, edition or graphic arts software and knowledge of security mechanisms for software and hardware components. Ideal candidates will have a Vocational or Associates degree, or 2 years experience and/or training in related field. Experience in data center operation preferred.
