Position Summary:
MANAGER, CIRCULATION – SALES/GROWTH

 

Our Circulation department is responsible for delivering The Arizona Republic, La Voz and a host of other products to our readers locally and statewide.  Circulation is one of the largest departments at Republic Media with a committed team of employees. 

 

With a fleet of trucks and vehicles and an army of employees, the Circulation department makes sure your newspaper is there for you when you want it. In fact, their efforts were indispensable in The Arizona Republic’s 2008 rise to the top ten newspapers in the country.  Our Circulation team offers even more value to our readers by distributing alternative products like the USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Barons, the Financial Times, The New York Times, and the Arizona Daily Star.

 

This position:


  • Manages, develops, and coordinates and provides strategic direction for all circulation sales channels. Manages vendor relations for circulation sales.  Oversees the management of a moderately small outbound call center.

  • Manages, hires, oversees, motivates, assigns and monitors work, trains, provides guidance, etc., of outbound call center and assigned staff.

  • Ensures compliance with departmental and company policies, procedures and standards of performance.

  • Manages the outbound call center operations.

  • Manages, develops, recommends and implements programs, processes, standards, etc. to improve the department's performance.

  • Manages the day-to-day operation and ensures that sales staff meet and/or exceed marketshare and/or sales goals.

  • Manages and oversees vendor relationships, develops strategies for balancing multiple vendors and territories and ensures vendors meet sales goals and maintains company customer service standards. 

  • Facilitates integrated sales campaigns between various sales channels including telemarketing, direct mail, direct response and online.

  • Works closely with other circulation management to ensure best practices are in place for all sales processes in order to deliver inceased new start retention.

  • Tracks the P/L on a channel-by-channel basis and makes changes to current business practices when needed in order to make P/L goals.

  • Establishes, builds and maintains relationships with business partners and customers, promoting a strong brand representation for the Arizona Republic in all event and retail sales outlets. 

  • Partners with other departments, in particular marketing, to create promotional campaigns and other sales opportunities.

  • Explores, creates, and initiates new programs and opportunities that increase revenue/market share with strong focus on retention.

  • Participates in the development of department sales plans and budgets. 

 
Requirements
Our ideal candidate will have:


  • Bachelor’s Degree, (Marketing, Management, Business preferred).

  • The ability to effectively manage others and the operations of the department.

  • Proven experience managing in a call center environment 

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, planning, communication, organizational, problem solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Excellent presentation and sales skills. 

  • Experience in exceeding marketshare and/or sales goals. 

  • The ability to develop strategic plans and programs.

  • The ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with outside companies and associations.

  • Ability to build and manage vendor relationships. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Organized with the ability to carry out detailed plans and projects.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and to organize and carry out projects. 

  • Must be able to work effectively with all departments. 

  • Ability to manage and operate within a budget.

  • Must be 18 years of age and have a valid Arizona driver's license.  Must possess minimum state liability insurance, a good driving record and access to a vehicle.
